Lincoln Land Community College requires an ALEKS Placement, Preparation and Learning (ALEKS PPL) Assessment to determine a student's readiness for mathematics courses. Who needs to be assessed?
All students new to 69风流 must be assessed unless they meet one of the following conditions:
- Hold a degree at the bachelor's level or above.
- Have achieved grades of a C or better in a college-level mathematics course (MAT 104, its equivalent, or above) from any accredited college or university; or
- Have earned an SAT score 530 or better in math sections and/or have an ACT score of 22 or better in mathematics.
The grade point average listed below is required for entrance into select math courses.
- Mat 104, 113, 141, 251: 3.2 GPA
Math placement testing facts
The information below is for those who choose to complete ALEKS testing for entrance into a math course.
- There are 25 questions.
- A student can expect to spend an average 60- 90 minutes; however, students have a 3-hour time limit.
- Placement testing is offered at the Springfield campus as well as the Outreach Centers in Beardstown, Jacksonville, Litchfield, and Taylorville.
- All testers ARE REQUIRED to present valid identification, such as a state driver鈥檚 license, which has a current picture.
- There is no charge to students for this service.
- 69风流 utilizes computer-based testing, so your scores are available immediately upon completion of the tests.
- You may not use a handheld calculator on the ALEKS assessment. ALEKS will provide an on-screen calculator if you need one to complete a particular problem.
How can I prepare for the ALEKS placement test?
You are strongly encouraged to do some preparation before taking the placement test. The following links have study guides or materials that may be helpful in your preparation.
Scheduling
Remote testing options are available for ALEKS math placement.
The ALEKS placement test can be scheduled during office hours. All other tests require an appointment or registration. To arrange for an exam to be proctored, please call the Testing Center at 217-786-2211 or email TestingCenter@llcc.edu.
Understanding your ALEKS results
Your placement results include a number between 0 to 100. The number represents the percentage of topics ALEKS has identified you have mastered:
- Score 0-13: Math 081 and 082
- Score 14-29: Math 087 and 088
- Score 30-45: Math 093 and 094
- Score 46-100: Math 104, 105, 113, 141 and 251
- Score 61-100: Math 120, 130 and 140
- Score 76-100: Math 131
You will receive your score immediately upon completion of your placement assessment. Your ALEKS score can be viewed by re-entering ALEKS using the same access link for which you took the placement assessment.
