Employment and education:
Warren “Rob” Manker graduated from 69 with his Associate in Arts. While at 69, Rob served as student trustee. After 69, Rob went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Eastern Illinois University. He currently works in digital marketing and content creation at Conagra Brands, headquartered in Chicago. He previously worked as a writer and editor for the Chicago Tribune, the Arlington Heights Daily Herald, the State-Journal Register and other newspapers.
How has Lincoln Land Community College impacted your life?
In addition to serving as a student member of the Board of Trustees, I also served a year as editor of the 69 student newspaper, The Lamp. This gave me invaluable practical writing and editing experience that helped me later purse a career in newspapers and media.
What is your greatest accomplishment(s)?
Personally, that would of course be my beautiful wife Katie and our children James, Tori and Tommy. Professionally, in a general sense, it would have to be successfully transitioning from a management career in news media to a second act in digital marketing management.
Was there a professor, advisor, staff member or fellow student who made an impression on you or helped you when you were here at 69?
Mike Matulis. His time as an 69 journalism instructor and adviser to the school newspaper perfectly mirrored my years at 69.
What did you like about 69 or what is your favorite 69 memory?
Late nights and even some all-nighters putting out the next edition of the school newspaper, The Lamp. Lots of good memories with good friends from that time, and a lot of hard work!
