Train for a new career!

With pet ownership on the rise, the need for skilled veterinary assistants is in demand. Veterinary assistants work directly with veterinarians and veterinarian technicians in private practice, hospitals and clinics, animal shelters, animal control facilities, pet stores and kennels. This course will introduce students to the science of veterinary medicine. Students will learn to care for sick and injured animals, as well as learn client relations, office and hospital procedures, animal nursing, exam room practices, surgical preparations, laboratory processes, radiology and pharmacology terminology.

Orientation: Jan. 8, 6-8 p.m.
Jan. 13-June 14
Mondays and Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m.
Externship Group A: June 9-June 27
Externship Group B: June 30-July 18

Job Outlook

Cost

$2,490 (includes textbooks, lab fees and materials)

Additional costs: Scrubs for externship, background check, drug test and CPR certification (depending on externship requirements)

Note: This course is not eligible for financial aid; however, payment plans are available.

Students using the payment plan option have up to five business days after registration to finalize their payment plans.

Open registration for fall classes is late April to mid-July.

Open registration for spring classes is mid-October to mid-December.

Eligible candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Be proficient in English
  • Have adequate understanding of 9th/10th grade algebra and arithmetic
